Parts of Wakad this page covers
- Bhumkar Chowk
- Bhumkar Nagar
- Kaspate Wasti
- Wakad Chowk
- Datta Mandir Road
- Dange Chowk
- Kalewadi Phata
- Thergaon (Wakad side)
Wakad is part of Pimpri-Chinchwad, and a lot of it is gated high-rise housing. The Katraj-Dehu Road bypass, the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway's route round Pune, runs through the middle: Bhumkar Nagar and the roads out of Bhumkar Chowk lie on the Hinjewadi side, while Kaspate Wasti and Kalewadi Phata are on the side towards Pimple Saudagar and Thergaon. The Mula river forms Wakad's southern edge, with Balewadi and Baner on the other bank.
Home tutors in Wakad: which side of the highway?
Two tutors who are each 2 km away can have very different journeys. One who lives on your side of the highway may be a short ride away; one who has to cross at Wakad Chowk or Bhumkar Chowk at 6 pm, into the traffic coming out of Hinjewadi, can take far longer.
Wakad's neighbours are where many of your nearest tutors will live: Thergaon and Kalewadi to the north, Pimple Nilakh, Rahatani and Pimple Saudagar to the east, and Tathawade along the highway. Balewadi and Baner look close on the map, but the river crossing adds time in the evening. Ask every tutor which way they will come, at your session time, not at noon.
CBSE schools around Wakad
Wakad has a dense cluster of CBSE schools. CBSE's affiliation directory lists Akshara International School, Indira National School and Walnut School in Wakad, EuroSchool on the Wakad-Marunji road at Bhumkar Nagar, and Podar International School on Bhumkar Chowk Road towards Tathawade.
These schools largely teach from NCERT books, but each sets its own unit tests and pace, and the junior classes often use other publishers' books too. Tell a tutor the school's name, not just "CBSE", and ask whether they teach other children from it this year. Our page on CBSE home tutors covers what good support looks like from primary to Class 12.
Student tutors near Wakad's colleges
Wakad and neighbouring Tathawade have several colleges, among them Indira College, the Balaji institutes and JSPM's Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering, so some tutors you see nearby will be students or recent graduates. A student tutor can suit a primary-school child who needs reading practice or homework support, and may be available in the early evening.
For Class 10 or Class 12 board preparation, look for someone who has taught that board's syllabus to other students recently, and ask a student tutor about their own exam calendar so sessions don't stop in their exam season. Whoever you choose, TutorUp's check confirms who a tutor is; it is not a police or background check or a judgement of their teaching, so read how verification works and meet them yourself first.
Sharing a home tutor in a Wakad society
With so many children in the same towers and at the same few CBSE schools, you may find classmates in your own society who need help in the same subject. Two or three children sharing one tutor at one home can work well for revision, provided they are on the same board, at a similar level and in the same class.
- Agree in advance whose home the sessions are in, and whether that rotates.
- Settle the fee per child and the rule for a missed session before the first class; our guide to home tuition fees in Pune explains what drives the number.
- Keep groups small. Past three children, a home session starts to look like a coaching batch, and the one-to-one attention you were paying for is gone.
Choosing a tutor in Wakad: a quick checklist
- Which side of the highway they live on, and their route at your session time.
- Recent experience with your child's school, or at least its board and class.
- For a student tutor: their own exam dates over the coming months.
- A demo at home using your child's actual homework; our guide on how to choose a home tutor covers what to watch for.
