Why a nearby tutor matters more in Wagholi
Wagholi stretches along Nagar Road, as the highway is still commonly called, and spreads back from it along Kesnand Road, Bakori Road, Awhalwadi Road and the Lohegaon-Wagholi Road. A tutor who looks only a few kilometres away on a map may still have to come through Kharadi Bypass and Wagholi's own busy junctions to reach you.
That journey is harder in 2026. Work on the Ramwadi to Wagholi metro extension began in September, and by early October local news was reporting barricades narrowing Nagar Road at several points between Viman Nagar and Wagholi. Closer to home, in April 2026 the PMC standing committee approved developing the busy Kesnand Phata to Dube Nagar Phata road, known locally as Road No. 68, as a model road, with timelines and budget still to be finalised, so that stretch may see roadworks of its own.
The practical answer is a tutor who already lives in Wagholi, or close by in Lohegaon or Kharadi, rather than one crossing the city every evening. When you set your location in the app, put the pin on your own building, not on the highway, because a society 2 km back from Nagar Road is a different trip.
Schools and boards in Wagholi
Children in Wagholi don't have to travel into the city for school. The Lexicon International School in Wagholi is affiliated to CBSE up to Class 12, and C P Goenka International School's Wagholi campus lists Cambridge IGCSE and A Level. Other schools in and around Wagholi follow different boards, so always tell a tutor which school your child attends.
For CBSE students, look for a tutor who works from NCERT books and board-pattern papers; our CBSE tutors page explains what to expect. Cambridge coursework and exam technique are different enough that you should ask specifically for IGCSE experience rather than a general Class 9 or 10 tutor.
Home tuition in a Wagholi township
If you live in one of Wagholi's large multi-tower societies, the tutor's last few hundred metres can take as long as the ride. Plan for it:
- Tell the tutor which gate to use; the main gate on the highway side isn't always the closest to your tower.
- Pre-approve them in MyGate, NoBrokerHood or whatever app your society uses, so the guard doesn't hold them up.
- Residents of some approach roads, Bakori Road among them, have complained for years about poor road access, and a poor road is slower still in heavy rain. Agree in advance what happens on heavy-rain days: a later slot, a skipped session or a make-up class.
- If several children in your society need the same subject, ask the tutor whether back-to-back sessions in the same complex would suit them. It makes the trip worthwhile and can help with timing.
Choosing a home tutor in Wagholi
- They live within a short ride, in Wagholi, Lohegaon or Kharadi, or have a clear plan for the highway at your slot time.
- They have taught your child's board: CBSE, Cambridge IGCSE, ICSE or State Board.
- You have agreed what happens when traffic or rain makes them late.
- They have given a demo at your home and your child was comfortable.
- The fee, days and payment terms are agreed directly between you.
Our guide on how to choose a home tutor walks through the demo class step by step.
