IB, CBSE and ICSE schools around Bavdhan
Suryadatta National School in Patil Nagar, on the Chandani Chowk to Pashan road, is CBSE-affiliated up to Class 12. Out at Bhukum, on the way to Mulshi, Indus International School Pune runs the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes. For ICSE, there are schools in the wider area too, such as Vidya Valley School in Sus, which the Pashan and Sus page covers.
That mix means two families in the same building may need very different tutors. An IB Middle Years student is assessed against criteria through projects and written tasks, so they need a tutor comfortable with that style, not just textbook drills. A CBSE Class 10 student needs steady board-paper practice. Read how IB and IGCSE differ and the IB tutors page before you shortlist.
Far fewer children study IB than CBSE or State Board, so tutors with recent IB experience are harder to find anywhere in Pune. Be ready to accept someone from a little further away, towards Pashan, Baner or Kothrud, or to offer a weekend slot.
Chandani Chowk and the highway: timing your tuition
Most routes into Bavdhan come through Chandani Chowk or along the NDA-Pashan Road from Pashan. The Chandani Chowk interchange on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, opened in August 2023, has eight ramps going in eight directions, which is easy once you know it and confusing on a first visit. Before the first session, tell the tutor which ramp brings them to your side and send a location pin for your society's gate.
Peak-hour traffic on the highway is the main variable. A tutor coming from Kothrud, or up the highway from Warje, may have a short ride at 4pm and a much longer one at 6:30pm, so ask about their route before you settle on a time.
The Aqua Line metro doesn't reach Bavdhan yet: its westernmost station is still Vanaz in Kothrud, and the extension towards Chandani Chowk isn't open. Until it is, a tutor coming to Bavdhan will usually need their own two-wheeler, which is worth remembering when you discuss timings and fees.
Society gates and setting up the session
Much of Bavdhan is apartment societies, and many run visitor entry through an app such as MyGate or NoBrokerHood, or through a security desk with a register. Add the tutor as a regular visitor with their name and slot so they aren't held at the gate every time, and check whether a two-wheeler can come inside or must stay on the road.
Hold regular sessions at home in a shared room with an adult around, especially early on, rather than in a clubhouse. A person on the TutorUp team checks every tutor, on a call or from a photo ID and selfie, before their profile is visible. That confirms who they are; it is not a police or background check. Meet the tutor yourself before regular classes start, and see how verification works for exactly what is checked.
Choosing a home tutor in Bavdhan: a short checklist
- Name the exact programme and year, such as IB MYP Year 3, ICSE Class 8 or CBSE Class 10, not just "international".
- Ask which of those the tutor has taught in the last two years.
- Share your gate's location pin and your society's entry process before the demo.
- Book the demo at your real slot so you both see the Chandani Chowk traffic.
- For IB, ask how the tutor supports internal assessments without doing the work for your child.
