Balewadi was a village on the city's edge until it came into Pune Municipal Corporation limits in 1997. Most of what you see now is newer high-rise housing around Balewadi High Street and along the roads towards the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex. That shapes home tuition here in three ways: travel across the highway and the river, society entry in large complexes, and children whose evenings are already full.
CBSE schools in and around Balewadi
CBSE's own affiliation records list three senior secondary schools on this side of the city: Bharati Vidyapeeth English Medium School in Balewadi, VIBGYOR High on the highway behind the Kirloskar Brothers corporate office, and Global Indian International School near the sports complex at Mahalunge. Large school groups often run different boards at different campuses, and a school's brochure is not always clear about which board your child's class follows. Confirm it with the school before you post, and if it is Cambridge, look for IGCSE tutors rather than a general CBSE tutor.
Getting a home tutor to Balewadi past the highway and Balewadi Phata
Balewadi sits beside the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, with Wakad across the Mula river and Baner beyond Balewadi Phata. So your closest tutors may live in Wakad or Pimple Nilakh, which are in Pimpri-Chinchwad, as well as in Baner and Balewadi itself.
Each direction has its own pinch point. A tutor from Wakad or Pimple Nilakh has to cross the Mula, and the crossings can be slow in the evening; one from Baner gets held up at Balewadi Phata. Ask each tutor which way they will come and how long the ride takes at your session time, not at noon.
Metro Line 3, from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, passes through Balewadi on its way to Baner Road. Reports in September 2026 said the line would open in stages, with 6 of its 23 stations, including Balewadi Phata and Laxmi Nagar, staying closed at first while work finished. Check which stations are actually running before you count on it for a tutor who does not ride a two-wheeler.
Society entry and the High Street rush
In the larger Balewadi complexes, the visitor bay can be a long walk from your tower. When you add the tutor as a regular visitor in your society's app (MyGate, NoBrokerHood or whatever your tower uses), also tell them which gate is nearest your building and where a two-wheeler can be parked.
If you live near Balewadi High Street, remember that its restaurants and bars draw crowds on Friday and weekend evenings. A weekday or earlier weekend slot saves the tutor a crawl through the last few hundred metres.
Fitting home tuition around sport and activities
With the sports complex next door, some Balewadi children train for a sport most evenings, and a tired child after training is a poor fit for a 45-minute maths session. If that is your child, plan tuition around the training timetable instead of squeezing it in afterwards.
- Try two longer sessions a week on rest days instead of four short ones after training.
- Ask whether the tutor can do an early slot on weekends, before the day's practice.
- Give the tutor the tournament and trial calendar at the start of term, so revision is not lost in a busy fortnight.
