Which boards Viman Nagar children study
Viman Nagar packs a lot of variety into a small area. Within a few kilometres of Viman Nagar Chowk there is an IB World School, a CBSE school on the Air Force Station, another CBSE school across Nagar Road in Vadgaon Sheri, and an English-medium State Board school behind Phoenix Market City.
| School | Where | Board |
|---|---|---|
| Symbiosis International School | Symbiosis campus, Viman Nagar | IB (Primary Years, Middle Years, Diploma); a Cambridge course is also listed for Classes 9 and 10 |
| Air Force School | Air Force Station, Viman Nagar | CBSE, up to Class 12 |
| St. Arnold's Central School | SVD campus near Sun City, Vadgaon Sheri | CBSE, up to Class 12 |
| Rosary High School | Tasmac Road, behind Phoenix Market City | Maharashtra State Board (SSC), English medium |
So when you post a requirement, name the board and the programme, not just the class. Symbiosis lists both IB and Cambridge courses, so "Class 9 Maths" alone doesn't tell a tutor which syllabus your child is on, or whether their work is marked against IB criteria or Cambridge mark schemes. Our IB and IGCSE pages explain what a tutor for each should know.
Switching between CBSE, IB and Cambridge
With IB, Cambridge and CBSE schools this close together, a child in Viman Nagar can change board without changing neighbourhood: from CBSE after Class 10 into the IB Diploma for Classes 11 and 12, for example, or from an international programme into one of the CBSE schools.
The first term after a switch is where a home tutor helps most. Look for one who has taught both the old and the new board, and ask them to spend the first two or three sessions finding gaps, in topics and in how answers are written, before settling into a weekly routine. If you are still choosing between the two international options, our guide to IB vs IGCSE sets out how they differ.
Nagar Road, the metro work and tuition timings in Viman Nagar
For a tutor on a two-wheeler, the road that decides whether they arrive on time is Nagar Road. Maha Metro began work on the Ramwadi to Wagholi extension in September 2026, with a Viman Nagar station in the first phase. In early October, local news reported that barricades between Viman Nagar Chowk and Wagholi had narrowed the road at several points, with long peak-hour queues in both directions.
- Viman Nagar sits on the north side of Nagar Road. A tutor who lives on this side, in Viman Nagar itself, Sakore Nagar or towards Lohegaon, doesn't have to cross it and is much easier to keep on a fixed slot.
- Tutors from Kalyani Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri, Yerawada or Kharadi can work well too. Agree a start time before the office traffic builds or after it eases, and ask them to check the ride at that hour.
- IB Diploma students juggle internal assessments and the extended essay, and those deadlines tend to bunch up. A longer weekend session can be easier for everyone than extra weekday visits.
- Pre-approve the tutor in your society's visitor app, such as MyGate or NoBrokerHood, so the first visit doesn't stall at the gate.
Choosing a home tutor in Viman Nagar
- They have taught your child's exact board and programme, not just the same class.
- For IB or Cambridge, they can explain how they'd support coursework or internal assessment, not only exam revision.
- They can reach you without crossing Nagar Road at rush hour, or have a realistic plan for it.
- You have watched a demo class at home and your child was comfortable with them.
- You have agreed the fee, days and how cancellations work directly with the tutor.
For students at Air Force School or St. Arnold's, our CBSE tutors page explains what NCERT-based board-year tuition should look like. For Rosary and other SSC students, see our Maharashtra State Board page.
