PCMC or PMC: what the boundary means for home tuition
Pimpri-Chinchwad has its own municipal corporation, PCMC, separate from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) that runs Pune city. It grew as an industrial town: Hindustan Antibiotics was set up at Pimpri in the 1950s, MIDC acquired large areas of industrial land here from 1962, and Pimpri, Chinchwad, Bhosari and Akurdi were joined into one municipal council in 1970, which became a corporation in 1982. Villages such as Pimple Saudagar, Rahatani and Thergaon came in then, and 18 more fringe villages in 1997.
For finding a tutor, the boundary hardly matters, because TutorUp matches by real distance across both cities. What matters is size: Moshi to Ravet, or Chikhali to Pimple Saudagar, is a long ride at 6 pm. "A tutor in Pimpri-Chinchwad" is not the same as a tutor near you, so always judge by distance and route.
Pradhikaran sectors: tell tutors your sector number
Much of Nigdi and Akurdi, and parts of Moshi, Chikhali, Bhosari and Ravet, were laid out in numbered sectors by the Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority, set up in 1972. That is why people here give addresses like "Sector 27A, Pradhikaran" rather than a road name. Mention your sector when you first talk to a tutor: anyone local will know exactly where you are, and the first visit starts on time.
Home tuition in Pimpri-Chinchwad for State Board students
Marathi is the most widely spoken language in Pimpri-Chinchwad, given by about 70% of residents in the 2011 census, and the Maharashtra State Board is a big part of school life. PCMC's own municipal schools follow the State Board, while private schools here may follow the State Board, CBSE or the CISCE's ICSE.
For an SSC student, look for a tutor who teaches from the current Balbharati textbooks and knows the State Board paper pattern; our State Board tutors page and SSC board exam preparation guide go into detail. If your child is moving from a PCMC municipal school to a private school, or from the State Board to CBSE, tell the tutor the old and new board and the medium of instruction at the start, so the first sessions go on finding gaps rather than repeating what your child already knows.
CBSE schools across Pimpri-Chinchwad
CBSE's affiliation directory lists many schools across PCMC, among them City Pride School and New Pune Public School in Nigdi Pradhikaran, Podar International School in Chinchwad, Sterling School in Bhosari and Sadhu Vaswani International School in Moshi Pradhikaran. The newer western side has pages of its own, with local school and travel detail: Wakad, Pimple Saudagar and Ravet.
Getting a tutor to you across PCMC
- The old Mumbai-Pune highway runs through Dapodi, Pimpri, Chinchwad and Nigdi, and the Pune-Nashik highway runs from Nashik Phata through Bhosari and Moshi. Both are slow in the evening, so a tutor who doesn't need to cross them is easier to keep.
- Pune Metro's Purple Line starts at PCMC Bhavan in Pimpri and runs through Kasarwadi and Dapodi towards Swargate, so a tutor living near a station can come without a vehicle.
- Local trains on the Pune-Lonavala line stop at Dapodi, Kasarwadi, Pimpri, Chinchwad and Akurdi, which helps tutors travelling along that corridor.
- The Pavana, Mula and Indrayani rivers all run through the city. A short distance with a river crossing can take longer than a longer one without.
- Set your exact location in the app, so distance is measured from your building.
- Tell the tutor your board and medium of instruction, not just the class.
- Share your sector or nearest landmark before the first visit.
- Ask how they will travel at your session time, and agree a slot that avoids crossing a highway or river in the rush.
